Finter Bank, a Zurich-based private bank, owned by the Italian financial company Italmobiliare, has acquired Bank Hugo Kahn.

Also based in Zurich, Bank Hugo Kahn managers around SFr900m in assets and is controlled by Kahn family.

Finter Bank has around SFr6.2bn of assets under management with offices in Zurich, Lugano and Chiasso, as well as a subsidiary in the Bahamas.

Terms of the deal were not disclosed, however, reports in the Italian press suggest Finter paid around €24m for Hugo Kahn.

Brummel

Relocation, relocation, relocation

Banks have never been shy of firing staff at the merest whiff of a downturn. First the fat, then the muscle and finally the bone. In the past, cuts have been so deep that firms have found it hard to benefit when the markets rebounded, paying over the odds to restaff at speed. Such wild oscillations in staffing numbers are known as “doing a Merrill”.
