Global wealth databank launched

The world's first on-demand global wealth databank has been launched today by consultant Scorpio Partnership, prompted by the growing number of requests it receives for information about the wealth market.

The new matrix, Vintage 2008, will allow clients to navigate Scorpio's proprietary information on the high net worth market in 30 different geographies, including market sizing, investor characteristics and competitor landscapes.

The geographies include the CEE, Europe, the Middle East and Africa, Asia and the Americas. Certain geographies also have detailed information on the UHNW market and on technology and reporting requirements.

Access to one country costs £500 for unlimited access, although there is a discount if you buy more. Five countries costs £400 each. Six-plus costs £300.

Buying access to the 30 countries on Scorpio's register costs £8,500. Scorpio says it has had a huge amount of interest and sold the service to two individuals.

The most popular regions are those in the Gulf Cooperation Council and Asia Pacific, where there is very little available data yet. Scorpio has two staff on the ground in Singapore to continue gathering information through interviews with wealthy clients and bankers.

Data on Vintage 2008 includes the number and growth rate of HNW individuals, the size of HNW assets, onshore and offshore distribution, investor characteristics, typical portfolios and investment behaviour.

“With the launch of Scorpio Parnership’s Vintage 2008 we are responding to the desires of wealth management market participants to obtain detailed strategic insight information quickly,” said Sebastian Dovey, managing partner.

“Clients can cherry-pick the market data they need from our country and datapoint matrix, then get their hands on it very quickly,” he added.

Vintage 2008 has been produced on assignments during the past 12 months, supported by still-current data from previous years. Scorpio Partnership is also building up its other off-the-shelf offering, the annual Private Banking KPI Benchmark solution.
