Vontobel applies for full German banking licence

Vontobel has applied for a full banking licence in Germany, as part of its strategy to make it its second domestic market after Switzerland, according to a Reuters report.

The Swiss private bank, which has been providing wealth management services in Germany since 2002 and has offices in Munich, Cologne and Frankfurt, on Thursday said that it intends to launch a fourth centre in Hamburg.

Vontobel plans to bring all its German operations under a new company once it acquires the full banking licence, the Reuters report said.
