Zurich International targets Asian wealthy

Zurich International Life, a unit of Zurich Financial Services, has secured the go-ahead from Taiwan's financial regulator to open a life-insurance branch aimed at high net worth individuals on the island, according to Dow Jones report.

The report quoted Carlos Sabugueiro, Zurich International's Asia regional director, as saying: "After careful consideration and market analysis, we have identified a large number of high net worth Taiwanese customers looking for trusted and well-managed 'international choice' when it comes to their investment decisions."

Relocation, relocation, relocation

Banks have never been shy of firing staff at the merest whiff of a downturn. First the fat, then the muscle and finally the bone. In the past, cuts have been so deep that firms have found it hard to benefit when the markets rebounded, paying over the odds to restaff at speed. Such wild oscillations in staffing numbers are known as “doing a Merrill”.
