Luxury on the cheap: the Hermès-finished Smart car

For those among the very rich who feel a bit self-conscious driving a new Bentley Continental but still want luxury during the credit crunch, a Hermès-finished Smart car might just be the car for these cash-strapped times.

The new car will retail at €39,000 and has been unveiled in Paris as part of the 10th anniversary of Daimler’s Smart car division and its French distributor.

Sales of Smart cars worldwide are holding up well for Daimler, whereas for all the company’s cars overall sales were down 24.5% year-on-year in October.
