Marquee Capital to launch celebrity memorabilia fund

Marquee Capital, a UK-based celebrity collectors firm, will unveil the first investment fund dedicated to rock and pop memorabilia in January, according to a report in The Sunday Telegraph, London.

The regulated fund, set up by Chetan Trivedi and four of his friends, is targeting £7.5m (€9.3m), and will invest in the memorabilia of stars including Madonna, Marilyn Monroe and Jimi Hendrix.

The firm, which began as a group of private collectors with a penchant for Madonna, is currently a limited company with private investors.

Banks have never been shy of firing staff at the merest whiff of a downturn. First the fat, then the muscle and finally the bone. In the past, cuts have been so deep that firms have found it hard to benefit when the markets rebounded, paying over the odds to restaff at speed. Such wild oscillations in staffing numbers are known as “doing a Merrill”.
