US property tycoon sells mansion for $100m
Donald Trump, the US real estate tycoon and star of the US version of The Apprentice, has sold a Florida mansion to Dmitry Rybolovlev, the Russian fertiliser billionaire, for $100m (€63m), according to a report in The Daily Telegraph, London.
"In an age of so many people getting hurt in real estate, it shows that you can still do well in real estate," Trump said, according to the Telegraph report. A spokeswoman for Trump claimed the deal was the biggest of its kind for an estate in the US, even though it fell short of the $125m target price set by Trump.
Trump bought the 60,000 sq ft oceanfront property, named called Maison de L'Amitie, for about $41m in 2004. The estate is spread over several buildings and includes separate coat closets and bathrooms for men and women off the main entry. A mammoth fountain greets guests from the front along with 475 feet of ocean in the back.
