Morgan Stanley disbands ETF team

Morgan Stanley has officially disbanded its investment strategies team, which under Debbie Fuhr published some of the most widely-read reports and data on the exchange-traded funds industry.

The bank confirmed the news but declined to comment further. It is understood the team comprised four people alongside Fuhr.

Fuhr is understood to be looking for other opportunities within the industry. It is not clear whether the other team members are remaining with the bank.

Despite Fuhr's departure, Morgan Stanley is expected to continue publishing research and providing asset allocation advice, but from a different division.

Relocation, relocation, relocation

Banks have never been shy of firing staff at the merest whiff of a downturn. First the fat, then the muscle and finally the bone. In the past, cuts have been so deep that firms have found it hard to benefit when the markets rebounded, paying over the odds to restaff at speed. Such wild oscillations in staffing numbers are known as “doing a Merrill”.
