Golden girl Kate gets £10m price tag

A golden statue of Kate Moss in a yoga position by British artist Mark Quinn, is expected to sell for £10m.

The 50kg solid gold statue, called Siren, depicts the 34-year old British supermodel with her legs behind her head.

The statue was unveiled today at the British Museum, where it will remain until January, when it will be moved to White Cube gallery.

The sculpture cost £1.5m to make, and is one of a series by Marc Quinn, the artist responsible for the ‘Alison Lapper Pregnant’ sculpture that was displayed in Trafalgar Square for 20 months.

Relocation, relocation, relocation

Banks have never been shy of firing staff at the merest whiff of a downturn. First the fat, then the muscle and finally the bone. In the past, cuts have been so deep that firms have found it hard to benefit when the markets rebounded, paying over the odds to restaff at speed. Such wild oscillations in staffing numbers are known as “doing a Merrill”.
