Swiss tax authorities likely to hand over tax info of UBS clients

Switzerland’s tax authorities are expected to hand over confidential data on wealthy American clients of UBS to the US Justice Department, according to a report in the New York Times.

The report cited sources that added that UBS began handing over data of American clients with offshore private banking accounts to the Swiss authorities in August.

It appears that the Swiss justice ministry might be adopting the view that some American clients of UBS may have committed tax fraud, said the report.

Brummel

Relocation, relocation, relocation

Banks have never been shy of firing staff at the merest whiff of a downturn. First the fat, then the muscle and finally the bone. In the past, cuts have been so deep that firms have found it hard to benefit when the markets rebounded, paying over the odds to restaff at speed. Such wild oscillations in staffing numbers are known as “doing a Merrill”.
