Deutsche Bank appoints chief country officer for Cayman Islands

Deutsche Bank has appointed Janet Hislop as chief country officer for its operations in the Cayman Islands.

Hislop will replace Jean-Claude Emard, who has relocated to Switzerland to act as chief operating officer for Deutsche Bank's Middle East and Africa private wealth management team. In her new role, Hislop will manage the Cayman office providing local oversight of risk management, regulatory and corporate governance issues. Hislop also will support marketing activities and new business initiatives and will be the principal liaison with local and other regulatory bodies. In addition, Hislop will retain her role as head of the financial intermediaries team in the Cayman Islands for the private wealth management division.

Relocation, relocation, relocation

Banks have never been shy of firing staff at the merest whiff of a downturn. First the fat, then the muscle and finally the bone. In the past, cuts have been so deep that firms have found it hard to benefit when the markets rebounded, paying over the odds to restaff at speed. Such wild oscillations in staffing numbers are known as “doing a Merrill”.
