Julius Baer to launch new Swiss office, taps Credit Suisse for staff

Julius Baer is to open a new office in the Swiss city of St Gallen and has hired a team from Credit Suisse to staff the office.

The new branch will be managed by Andreas Bauer; also joining are Marcel Wild and Michael Eicher – all are from Credit Suisse.

Banks have never been shy of firing staff at the merest whiff of a downturn. First the fat, then the muscle and finally the bone. In the past, cuts have been so deep that firms have found it hard to benefit when the markets rebounded, paying over the odds to restaff at speed.
