Julius Baer appoints new London heads

Julius Baer, the Swiss private bank, has appointed a new CEO and reshuffled its London management team with two other appointments, all of whom were formerly at rival Credit Suisse.

The reshuffle sees Daniel Gerber take over as chief executive, succeeding Juerg Berger, who has stepped down to focus on his roles as market head of the UK and member of the board of directors.

Gerber was previously deputy chief executive, a role he was appointed to last year. He joined the bank in 1999, and before this was based at Credit Suisse.

Charlotte Vilén has been named deputy chief executive and Stuart Bates has joined the team as the new chief operating officer. Vilén joined the bank in 2001 from Credit Suisse and was most recently head of private clients and business development.

Bates was previously based at Credit Suisse in London where he was head of business control.

“We are delighted to have been able to appoint top professionals from both within and outside the Julius Baer Group to these key positions,” said Juerg Berger. “With their outstanding track records and in-depth knowledge of the market, Daniel, Charlotte and Stuart will all make a substantial contribution towards further strengthening our position in the UK.”
