Citi appoints private bank EMEA chairman

US bank Citi has appointed a chairman of its private bank in Europe, Middle East and Africa, as a newly created role.

The bank announced in an internal memo that Michel De Carvalho will serve as chairman of Citi Private Bank for the EMEA region; he will continue to serve in his previous role of vice chairman of Citigroup Investment Banking.

He will work with Jane Fraser, chief executive of Citi Private Bank, and other members of the senior team at the private bank.

He is also on the board of Citigroup Capital UK Ltd and is a member of the supervisory board of Heineken NV.
