Close Asset Management hires Christie's director

Close Asset Management, the UK-based investment manager, has hired a head of wealth management from auction house Christie's, as a newly created role.

Steven Mendel joins Close from Christie’s where he was financial services director, responsible for proposition development across lending, insurance and investment management.

Prior to Christie’s, Mendel was a director at Barclays Wealth where he was responsible for their collectives, retirement and protection businesses.

Mendel, who will report directly to Martin Andrew, chief executive of Close Asset Management, will assume responsibility for the UK wealth management business and its ongoing strategic development.
