UBS loses global head of philanthropy, deputy also departs
Max Martin, global head of UBS’ philanthropy services, is leaving the bank to join a family office. Andreas Ernst, Martin’s deputy at UBS, is also leaving and will continue to work with Martin in his new position.
A UBS spokeswoman confirmed their departure.
Martin said in an email announcing his departure: “Since we became operational in 2004, and together with many of you, my deputy Andreas Ernst, and my great team at UBS, we created a comprehensive, knowledge-based philanthropy advisory process and several widely acclaimed knowledge exchange platforms such as the UBS Philanthropy Forum.”
Martin will be head of strategy at the family office. The name of the family office was not disclosed by Martin, although it is understood to be based in Geneva.
Martin was considered by many as one of the biggest names in the philanthropic world of wealth managers, building up UBS’ philanthropy’s unit from scratch and developing a wide network of contacts in the industry.
He said he would work with UBS to find a successor.
