UBS private banker resurfaces at Heartwood

Independent wealth management boutique Heartwood has hired a relationship director from larger Swiss rival UBS.

Kirsty MacArthur joins the clients services team in London as relationship director. She will be joining in December and will report to Guy Hudson, head of client services and distribution.

She joins from UBS where she was responsible for advising ultra high net worth clients across the sport, media and private equity sectors. Prior to UBS she worked at Coutts & Co where she advised on asset management, tax planning and credit financing to high net worth clients within the sports and entertainment fields as well as other sectors.

MacArthur is an appointed trustee of the charity Sports Fund which aims to help children participate in sport.

Relocation, relocation, relocation

Banks have never been shy of firing staff at the merest whiff of a downturn. First the fat, then the muscle and finally the bone. In the past, cuts have been so deep that firms have found it hard to benefit when the markets rebounded, paying over the odds to restaff at speed. Such wild oscillations in staffing numbers are known as “doing a Merrill”.
