Liechtenstein private bank has big ambitions in Asia

Liechtenstein private bank VP Bank has ambitions of pulling in SFr3bn in net new money in 2008, according to a Reuters interview with the bank’s head of private banking clients.

The bank also plans to double the size of its private banking team in Singapore to 26 in the next year.

VP Bank is keen to target family businesses and entrepreneurs in Asia with more than $30m, according to Patrick Wild, head of VP’s private bank in Asia, who was cited in the report.

Mayfair goes Modern

Sebastian + Barquet, a three-year old design gallery based in New York and Chelsea, is opening a new gallery showing museum quality pieces in Mayfair next month, the first in London to focus on international modernism from the 1940s to the 1960s. Harrods, the luxury London-based retailer, is selling a diamond-encrusted shirt valued at £20,000, the world's most expensive shirt ever made. Although the shirt has not yet been sold, it puts paid to the idea of the wealthy having to reign in their spending as a result of the recession.
