UK wealth adviser hires finance director

Towry Law, the private and corporate wealth adviser, has hired Paul Wright as a finance director.

Wright, who previously worked as chief financial officer for a company advising the Singapore Government on part of their investment portfolio, has been Towry Law's interim finance director since January.

He was also finance director at hedge fund company Man Investments, and private bank Coutts. He has held senior finance roles with Standard Chartered Bank and Hambros.

Relocation, relocation, relocation

Banks have never been shy of firing staff at the merest whiff of a downturn. First the fat, then the muscle and finally the bone. In the past, cuts have been so deep that firms have found it hard to benefit when the markets rebounded, paying over the odds to restaff at speed. Such wild oscillations in staffing numbers are known as “doing a Merrill”.
