Buffett adviser secures $2bn for fledgling investment firm

Byron Trott, a regular financial adviser to Warren Buffett and a Goldman Sachs alumnus, has raised more than $2bn (€1.4bn) in capital for his nascent investment company.

It is believed that BDT Capital Partners, the venture Trott launched earlier this year to invest in and advise family-run and entrepreneurial businesses, continues to seek further commitments.

The start-up, in which Berkshire controls a “modest partnership interest”, has also begun adding senior dealmakers, including Don McLellan, former head of mergers and acquisitions at Motorola, sources said, as per the FT report.
