Affluent US women commit millions towards philanthropy

100 affluent women, including Jennifer Buffett, daughter-in-law of Warren Buffett, and Walt Disney scion Abby Disney on Wednesday pledged $1m (€736,229) or more each to grant-making organisations focused on women and girls, according to a report in The Wall Street Journal.

As part of an initiative called Women Moving Millions, launched by sisters Helen Lakelly Hunt and Swanee Hunt in tie-up with the San-Francisco-based Women's Funding Network, over $176m has been committed to benefit 43 institutions globally.
