Collins Stewart Wealth hires ex-Lehman banker

The wealth management arm of broker Collins Stewart has hired a senior wealth manager, the latest in a string of hires for the bank.

The company hired Oliver Tregoning as head of investment marketing. He was previously Lehman Brothers Asset Management as head of marketing for Europe and the Middle East.

He reports to Neil Darke, head of wealth and fund management at Collins Stewart.

Drake said: "Within the last six months alone we have recruited 22 new employees. This significant investment in new talent is further evidence of our commitment to building first class wealth and fund management businesses."

Last month Collins Stewart Wealth Management hired Tracey Carter from Royal Bank of Scotland for its treasury function and Chris Colclough from HSBC Global Asset Management for its multi-manager team.

Relocation, relocation, relocation

Banks have never been shy of firing staff at the merest whiff of a downturn. First the fat, then the muscle and finally the bone. In the past, cuts have been so deep that firms have found it hard to benefit when the markets rebounded, paying over the odds to restaff at speed. Such wild oscillations in staffing numbers are known as “doing a Merrill”.
