China overtakes London as preferred base for Asia-focused hedge funds

China has overtaken London as the most popular base for the $68.2bn (€47.9bn) Asian hedge-fund sector that posted its strongest performance in almost a decade during the second quarter, gaining 18.9%, a report from Hedge Fund Research has shown, according to a report in The Wall Street Journal.

The research found that 24% of Asia-focused hedge funds are now headquartered in China, an increase of over 5% from a year ago. Funds concentrated on China made 19.8%, HFR said.
